Susan Scott
Susan grew up in Western Canada and still
flies to Calgary once a year to spend time on her father's ranch near Banff. After
completing a degree in history and a MBA, she held positions in publishing, politics and
university affairs. Susan's interest in 20th-century ceramics developed in the 1980s when
she frequently visited her grandmother in England. Always enterprising, Susan wrote her
first magazine article to pay for the trip she made to attend Susie Cooper's 90th birthday
celebration in London in 1992. Since then she has become a full-time writer and
contributor to the New England Antiques Journal, House Beautiful, The
Antique Trader, Collector Eye, Today's Collector and The Upper
Canadian.
For the last four years Susan has written the "hot"
collectible column for Canadian House & Home as well as a series of articles
about antiquing across Canada. She is the only Canadian on the Board of Advisors of
Warman's Americana & Collectibles. Susan co-authored The Charlton
Standard Catalogue of Chintz that was so popular that it went into a second edition
within a year. Susan gave a talk, "Susie Cooper in North America" for the Susie
Cooper Collectors' Group in Stoke-on-Trent in 1994 and has been the keynote speaker at the
last two Chintz Conventions in California. Every November she flies to London for
Christie's Clarice Cliff auction where she seldom buys anything. Susan and a group of
friends then spent the weekend sleuthing along Portobello Road and the other London
markets before heading north to Stoke where she devotes a week in the library doing
research.
Susan has finished the third edition of The Charlton Standard
Catalgue of Chintz. It was released in August of 1999 in England. Go to the
