1957 Dr. Humphrey Osmand, working with LSD is Saskatchewan, coins the word "psychedelic"
1965 February, Augustus Owsley Stanley III begins disturbing large amounts of LSD in Calafornia
c1965 Ben Friedman opens Postermat in San Francisco
1966 January. the Trips Festival is organized by Ken Kessey and the Merry Pranksters in San Francisco
1966 February, Family Dog/Avalon Series begins (runs to 147 on November 28, 1968) and Bill Graham/Fillmore Series begins (runs to 287 on June 30, 1971)
1966 autumn, Postermat starts to retail Avalon and Fillmore posters
1967 January 14, the first Human Be-In at Golden Gate Park, San Francisco
1967 summer, The Summer of Love; Life magazine cover story, "The Great Poster Wave"
1967 July, the Joint Show at Moore Galleries, San Francisco
